Hello!

Hey there! I'm Yagmur (a.k.a. Marceline) - nice to meet you!
I'm a front-end / full-stack web developer living in hellishly sunny Orlando, Florida. My path to coding wasn't exactly straight. It was more like a twisty, turny adventure involving stethoscopes, lab rats, art supplies, and eventually - JavaScript.
Once upon a time, I was a medical doctor (true story!) and even worked as a neurology resident. But what really fascinated me wasn't the day-to-day of patient care, it was the "why" and "how" behind it all. I was full of questions like: Why do we dream? Why do we have a dominant hand? How does the brain get affected by the systemic diseases? These questions led me down the rabbit hole of neuroscience, where I earned a PhD and spent years studying how diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and Parkinson's affect the brain microcirculation and cognition. It was intense, rewarding, and intellectually rich - but still, something was missing.
After moving to Florida in 2018, I dabbled in art, design, and all kinds of creative things. One day in 2019, I decided to build an online portfolio for my artwork, and figured I'd learn a bit of code to make it look just right. Turns out, I didn't just like coding, I loved it! So, I dove in headfirst. I joined UCF's Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp that May, and I've been coding happily ever after.
These days, I work mostly with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, and backend tools like Node.js, NestJS, Express, MongoDB. I build all sorts of fun and useful things with APIs, and I love learning something new every day. I am also currently getting my CS degree at WGU.
When I'm not coding, you can usually find me running road races or reading about brains, languages, history, or animal behavior (I'm especially into corvids and rodents ). I also make little creatures out of clay and ink, and sometimes they even turn out cute!
It's been a wild journey, but I think I've finally found my place in programming, where curiosity and creativity can thrive side by side.
